Project : Abstract Art

Hot off the press again are pictures of this installation completed today. We were tasked with the job of brightening-up a rather bland set of corridors in a newly refurbished office complex in Dartford, Kent. We decided to offer a set of abstract oil painting prints that would add the required splash of colour the building so desperately needed. The client was very happy with the end result and the image prints were being much admired by the tenants before we left site. Do you have a bland area that could do with a lift? Why not contact us and see if we can help. sales@solargraphics.net #abstractart #splashofcolour #itsalondonthing

Project : EC3 Brokers

Solar Graphics were contacted by another repeat client to help finish off a new office fit-out in London. The brief was basic; To design a series of manifestations and reception desk logo to compliment the brand image for EC3 Brokers. A solid band of etch effect laminate was decided upon to ensure privacy was maintained but incorporating a digitally printed panoramic view of London City. Also as part of the project we designed a 3D version of EC3 Brokers logo which was fitted to the existing reception desk. This logo included an illuminated 'EC3' element to further enhance their brand image. The project was completed today much to the satisfaction of the end user, in fact the end user was so

Product Spotlight : Flat-cut metal letters.

Widely used within sign systems and branding, flat cut metal letters are ideal for both primary and secondary letter and logo features. We can design and create flat cut letters to any font or logo specification in stainless steel, brass, aluminium and copper. A wide variety of finishes are available including painted colours. Varying thicknesses are cut by laser or water-jet cutting machines depending on the density of the metal chosen and sheet thickness. Additionally, flat-cut letters can be used as faces for built-up metal and acrylic letters. Flat-cut metal lettering has been popular for a very long time mainly due to it's very hard wearing properties and impressive finish, which is alw

Houses of Parliament.

With most businesses there are one or two projects or jobs that always stand out from the rest and are more memorable. We have been quite fortunate here where we get involved in a lot of special and memorable projects. We thought we'd share this installation from our archives. This particular install was entrusted to us from a long standing client. The brief was to produce a set of laser-cut, 6mm thick stainless steel letters which would form part of the entrance to the Houses of Parliament Visitors Centre. Each letter was laser-cut and then peened to match the new steel frames for the entrance gates. Each letter was then fitted with steel threaded studs and drilled into the existing beams.

Sweet smell of success.

With our new blog in place we thought this would be an ideal opportunity to show you some of the impressive and sometimes obscure projects we are asked to undertake. This first project taken from our archives was designed, produced and installed by Solar Graphics way back in 2007. A project of literally monstrous proportions was required Tate & Lyle for their manufacturing building in Silvertown, London. The brief was explained ..... to recreate a replica Lyle's Golden Syrup tin to fix to the side of the building, but to measure approximately four metres tall! The project was entrusted to Solar Graphics to produce a design concept, produce the project and to finally transport and install. Th

Pantone® colour of the year 2018

As individuals around the world become more fascinated with colour and realise its ability to convey deep messages and meanings, designers and brands should feel empowered to use colour to inspire and influence. The Colour of the Year is one moment in time that provides strategic direction for the world of trend and design, reflecting the Pantone Colour Institute’s year-round work doing the same for designers and brands. “The Pantone Colour of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.” – Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute.
